01:34 am - Sunday Music Los Angeles - The Modlins
My friend Nick is singing this Sunday, go check him out if you're in LA... here's his invite:
* * * * * * * * * *
In all of our emails -- in all of our many, MANY band discussions, I have never used the deplorable word "gig" -- until just now. I have chills down my spine. But there was no avoiding it, as the venue we're playing this Sunday night of Memorial Day is called "The Gig." That's right. A "gig" is no longer simply an event -- it's a PLACE. I'll actually be able to walk inside one of my least favorite words. Now if only someone would open a venue called "ironic," that would be a topper. It would be full of things ironically unironic. Like really sincere people and ties worn with shirts tucked IN. Actually, this doesn't sound too bad. Maybe I'll look into getting such a place going... Until then, we'll have to settle for The Gig. My god, I just wrote the word
without using quotations -- I must be getting comfortable with it. What's next? Haggling prices for a digital amp in the loud lounge of Guitar Center? Just kill me with a brick. (It's a slippery slope, kids.) Anyway, this show should be good since we're playing with our friends, Loverlee, and, given the Willy-Wonka-esque
contract the venue had us sign ("etc, ETC!!!"), the sound ought to be good. It better be. The contract is three pages.
Three PAGES people!
The Modlins are coming...
To...
